In the majority of countries, including the USA, the development and use of
petroleum and natural gas deposits goes back to the late 19th century. In
practical terms, all major petroleum and natural gas formations on land have
already been discovered. The development of oil and gas fields has been on
ongoing concern for many decades. The wells in theses fields have already
yielded a significant part of their oil and gas. Over the period of time,
irreversible processes have taken place in the near-well zones: the
formation of and filling of the pores in the rock of the near-well zone with
light fractions of productive rock, capillarization, which leads also to the
blocking of channels, and the swelling of the argillaceous minerals in the
rock. It is known that over a period of time, wells lose their initial
output and become economically unjustifiable. At the present time, wells of
this type number in the thousands in oil and gas fields all over the world.
